How does our cap-exempt H-1B program work?

Step 1

Qualify & Apply

Foreign nationals who qualify for a standard H-1B, and have a fiscal sponsor, can apply to become Build Fellows.

Step 2

Part Time H-1B

Build Fellows work 5 hours per week with one of our non profit partners to receive their part time, cap-exempt H-1B.

Step 3

Full Time H-1B

Build Fellows are now able to work for their full time employer, for 40 hours per week, through a concurrent H-1B.

Ability to work remotely 5 hours per week
Benefactor (a legal entity / organization) willing to support the costs of the Fellowship

Funding The Fellowship

OPTION 1

Build & the Company Employ the Fellow

Company pays Build $4000 per month. Fellow is employed by both Build & the Company.

Build employs the foreign national in the Fellowship for 5 hours per week and sponsors them for a part-time, cap-exempt H-1B visa.
Company employs the foreign national and sponsors them for a full-time, concurrent H-1B visa.

OPTION 2

Build Employs the Fellow

Company pays Build $75+ per hour. Build manages all employment and immigration needs for the Company.

Build employs the foreign national in the Fellowship, for 5 hours per week, and sponsors them for a part time, cap-exempt H-1B.
Company employs the foreign national and sponsors them for a full-time, concurrent H-1B visa.
